Business people and IT people think differently, which is why many great software projects in companies fail. Mendix set out to change this in 2005. Its founders Roald Kruit, Derckjan Kruit and Derek Roos, worked out a new way to bridge the ‘language’ gap between developers and businesses: a platform where apps can be visually modelled. Removing the need for writing code and allowing companies to build apps, often ten times faster. Prime Ventures saw the potential and became an early backer, helping Mendix rapidly increase its market share until Siemens acquired the company in 2018.
